From 1973 through 1981 I was a Foster Parent in Minnesota, working closely with The Department of Social Services & Mental Health providers. I was featured in commercials for TV, appeared in person on behalf of Foster Parenting, I taught Life Skills on a daily basis, educated on alcohol and drug issues, relationships and communication styles. My Anger Management skills were fine-tuned during these years,
I earned an Associate of Science Degree and a Degree C in the Chemical Dependency Specialist Training Program from the Minneapolis Community College in Minnesota. I am a Certified Advanced Substance Abuse Counselor in Missouri, and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in Texas. I have been providing Alcohol and Drug Counseling services since 1988.
I am also a Certified Anger Management Facilitator for adolescents & adults, trained by George Anderson of Anderson & Anderson. Texas recognizes the Anderson & Anderson psych-educational criteria. I am listed among their providers under Certified Anger Management facilitators. I am a member of the American Association of Anger Management since July of 2004.
Over the years I have worked closely with Honorable Judges, and probation and parole courts. I also worked at two prisons in Missouri, appreciating the challenges presented by resistive incarcerated men. I am able to provide a safe, non-threatening, supportive environment, yet set healthy boundaries where resistive clientele are able to focus on changes required to remain in society. Some people choose not to change. I believe one does no harm and, as a human, I believe every person deserves a chance.
